11 Truths For When Anxiety Takes Over

You know that place where you find out how little control you have? When all hope seems lost and breathing becomes a chore.

It’s a hard place, a dark place to be.

Anxiety is a soul crusher. It floods your soul, your every thought with an unimaginable pressure. It weighs on you, it keeps you up at night.

But there is hope. There is always hope in the cross, in our Creator. His light is cast on even the darkest of places, and the darkness cannot stand. His strength is stronger than anything we might face.

In Him we can trust.

1. You are loved.

You need to remember who you are. You have been called out of the darkness of your life, you have been given hope, new life in Jesus. Why? Because God loves you. His love for you is crazy, it’s scandalous, it doesn’t make sense, but it’s true. You are loved far more than you will ever know. You are loved.

2. Jesus died.

Proof of God’s scandalous love for you is pictured on the cross. Jesus, God’s son came into this world to die for you. Someone died for you, because He loved you, you in your imperfectness, you in your mess. He died, brutally on a cross where he put to death all of your shame, all of your sin, all of your darkness so that you could have a new life with him. Jesus died for you.

3. And Rose.

He didn’t just die, he rose from the grave, he defeated death. He revealed his absolute power in conquering the one thing that is over us all: death. The scariest most unknown, uncontrollable thing God conquered. He rose from the grave.

4. He is good.

God is good. He is the essence of good and gracious. He is perfect and Holy, so there is no sin, no wrong in Him at all. Out of His great love and mercy He extends grace to us, he gives us hope. He is good and can be trusted.

5. God is in control.

He is in control. He is the Lord of all things. He spoke and the world existed. He breathed life and life was sustained. He named all the stars in the sky and can count all the hairs on your head. He is the alpha and omega, beginning and end. He is Lord of all things. He is in control.

6. He will provide.

He cares for the lilies of the field and the birds of the air. How much more will he care for you, the one made in His image, the one He died to save, the one whom all the hairs are accounted for. He will provide.

7. He will never leave you. You are not alone.

God will never leave you. There is nowhere that you could go that would be outside of His realm. You can’t outrun him, out sin him, or hide from him. He will always be with you, to watch over you and guide you. You are His, His beloved and He is your Shepherded. He will never leave your side.

8. The Lord fights for you.

You do not have to do anything. The Lord is fighting for you. He is active in your life. He is jealous for you and longs to be your God. He will always pursue you because He loves you and He will continue to work in your life.

9. The Lord is for His good.

God is for God and His good, which is good because He is perfect and Holy. His way is the way of life. He being the maker and creator of the Universe knows far more than I do. He knows what is good and He is continually working for His good in your life.

10. God will not give you what He cannot handle.

I’m sure you’ve heard it said that God will not give you what you cannot handle but that’s a lie. In my life that has not proven to be true. I feel unequipped to handle a lot of things that have happened but He provides, He equips because He is able to handle everything.

God will not give you what He cannot handle.

11. You were created for a purpose.

You were created for a purpose. You were knit together; you were molded and crafted. The Lord of the Universe made you and named you and He has good works for your life, works to bring Him glory and draw you nearer to Himself.

  1. Love this. So simple. So true. So encouraging!

  2. I love this, Sarah Jean. We need to be strengthened by God’s word in those times when we doubt. It makes me think about Jesus when He was tempted in the desert. His strength came from the Word. So if Jesus needed to rely on God’s truth, how much more do we?
Thanks for sharing these with us!

  3. Kelly says:

How refreshing to see that God will not give you what He cannot handle. I’ve been exhausted with "God will not give me what I cannot handle". Such a new way to look at and handle life’s problems. Thank you!

    • Sarah says:

My life motto. He’s in control and thank God because I can’t seem to handle much. So glad that He used my murmurs to encourage your soul!
